Volunteer

The Kitchen is always looking for more volunteers to help out with our daily operations and special events such as fresh vegetables during harvest season. In the course of a typical year, we require about 30,000 volunteer hours to function. We generally have 10 to 12 volunteers per day helping out.

To volunteer you must be at least 18 years of age, and willing to work hard and take directions from our Head Cook or Manager.

You can also call the Kitchen at 857-4224 or drop by our facilities at 340 Dominion st in the basement of St. Augustine’s church, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Volunteer roles – we have many functions available for volunteers to help out, such as

• Dining Area Assistant
• Kitchen Assistant

Please give us a weeks’ notice if possible so we can schedule you or your group. We also welcome any specific skillsets you can offer such as commercial kitchen appliance maintenance and repair, plumbing, electrical and carpentry, etc that we may need from time to time. Our volunteer Board of Directors could also benefit from printing (business cards and brochures), creative writing (funding proposals, presentations, press releases and reports) and marketing (promotional campaigns and advertising) or any other help you would like to offer.
